OUR LINK TO THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
What Are the SDGs?
In 2015, world leaders came together under the United Nations and made a bold promise — to build a better world for every person on the planet by 2030. That promise took the form of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — a universal blueprint for ending poverty, protecting the planet, and ensuring that peace and prosperity are within reach for all.
They are not just global targets. They are a call to action for every government, organisation, business, and individual who believes the world can be different.
Why Simani Africa Is Committed to the SDGs
At Simani Africa, we do not operate in isolation. Every programme we design, every community we enter, and every partnership we build is deliberately anchored in this global framework — because local action and global goals are not in conflict. They are the same fight, at different scales.
We are committed to the SDGs because we believe that sustainable change requires a shared language, shared accountability, and shared ambition. By aligning our work to the SDGs, we ensure that every shilling invested, every life touched, and every community strengthened contributes to something larger than ourselves.
The SDGs We Champion
SDG | Linked Programmes | How Simani Africa Contributes |
SDG 1 — No Poverty | ZiYEP | ZiWEP | ZiEEP | We address poverty at its root by equipping youth with marketable skills, providing women with pathways to economic independence, and building entrepreneurial capacity that generates sustainable income. |
SDG 2 — Zero Hunger | ZiCAP | ZiWEP | We support sustainable land management through ZiCAP and strengthen women’s roles as primary food providers through ZiWEP — together securing community nutrition and food access. |
SDG 3 — Good Health & Well-Being | ZiHEP | ZiWEP | ZiIEP | ZiHEP delivers maternal care, disease prevention, and health education. ZiWEP addresses women’s health while ZiIEP ensures people with disabilities are not excluded from well-being support. |
SDG 4 — Quality Education | ZiEEP | ZiYEP | ZiWEP | ZiEEP provides scholarships and keeps girls in school. ZiYEP builds leadership in youth. ZiWEP ensures women access training and education to lead independent, informed lives. |
SDG 5 — Gender Equality | ZiWEP | ZiEEP | ZiIEP | ZiWEP dismantles gender barriers across education, health, and economics. ZiEEP keeps girls in school. ZiIEP advocates for women with disabilities facing compounded inequality. |
SDG 8 — Decent Work & Economic Growth | ZiEEP | ZiYEP | ZiWEP | ZiEEP builds business acumen and access to grants. ZiYEP prepares youth for dignified work through skills and mentorship. ZiWEP opens doors to economic participation for women. |
SDG 10 — Reduced Inequalities | ZiIEP | ZiWEP | ZiYEP | ZiIEP champions equal rights for people with disabilities. ZiWEP and ZiYEP target those most often left behind by mainstream development — women and youth. |
SDG 15 — Life on Land | ZiCAP | ZiYEP | ZiCAP empowers communities to conserve biodiversity and manage natural resources sustainably. ZiYEP cultivates the next generation of environmental stewards. |
SDG 17 — Partnerships for the Goals | All Programmes | Every programme is built on collaboration with communities, governments, civil society, and donors — because the most lasting change is always co-created. |
We are not waiting for the world to change Africa. We are working with Africa to change the world.
